Things to Know Before Installing an AC in Dhaka
1. Choose the Right Tonnage for Your Room
In Dhaka’s climate, a general rule is 0.8 tons per 100 sq ft of room area. A standard bedroom (120–150 sq ft) typically needs a 1-ton AC. Undersizing means the unit runs non-stop without reaching the set temperature. Oversizing causes short-cycling, excess humidity, and premature wear. Our technicians can calculate the right capacity for your space before installation.
2. Where You Install the Indoor Unit Matters
The indoor unit should be installed on an exterior wall when possible, about 7–8 feet above the floor, away from direct sunlight. It should never be placed directly above a TV or a bed. Proper placement reduces pipe length needed and improves airflow distribution across the room.
3. The Outdoor Unit Needs Proper Ventilation
The condenser releases heat absorbed from inside your room. If it is enclosed or sitting without sufficient clearance on all sides, your AC will struggle and the compressor will overheat. We assess outdoor unit placement carefully before fixing any bracket.
4. Electrical Load & Dedicated Circuit
A 1.5-ton split AC typically draws 1.5–1.8 kW. Running it on an overloaded shared circuit is a fire risk and will trip your MCB frequently. Ideally, your AC should run on a dedicated circuit with the correct breaker size. Our installation check includes reviewing your electrical supply before connecting the unit.
5. Why You Should Never Skip the Vacuum Step
Before charging refrigerant into the lines, the pipe circuit must be evacuated of air and moisture using a vacuum pump. Skipping this step — which many low-cost technicians do — allows moisture and non-condensable gases into the refrigerant circuit. This reduces efficiency and permanently damages the compressor within months. We never skip this step.
